A few years ago, I traded in my urban lake view condo in Seattle for 10 acres in the country. I planted my first garden, bought my first goat, and my brother suggested I start up a hive. Sounded like a good idea to me. The rest is history.

Bees in Odd Places

Recently a member of the World of Beekeeping team was traveling through Europe.  Like many places in the states, bees are often kept on buildings in big cities where land won’t allow them to be on the ground.  Both the Paris and Vienna opera houses have bees on them and this picture is from the Jardin du Luxembourg where there have been hive and a beekeeping school since 1856.  Do you know of an interesting urban place where bees are kept?  Share your links here!
